Hiring a 60 year old pilot
I'm wondering if the majors would hire someone that's turning 60 and without a college degree?? I'm at the point in life and considering trading corporate flying for better paying airline work. Thanks

You can get into Spirit, Frontier, or Allegiant if you are interested in short-haul mostly domestic operations on the A320 family.
You can also get into Atlas, Kalitta, or Omni if you are interested in long-haul mostly international operations on the 747 and 767.
I believe all of them are in negotiations for higher pay, so it is a toss at the dart board as far as how much and how soon things will improve at those carriers. They could still be in negotiations when you hit 65, so you may be looking at whatever the current pay and working conditions are for your tenure.
Good luck in the job search.

I would think the majors would get "double bonus" points for hiring a minority..... not many over 60 people who are card carrying members of AARP looking for an airline gig. Heck, I'd bet there's some sort of law mandating that we hire over 60 guys. why not??? I say apply and try.
