New Email From JL

From JL:
We had to get over it and put new hires in the ANC MD11 F/O seats.
If I remember right, those 80+ positions were never offered to the pilot group. Those were filled after the bid was closed at the discretion of the company to avoid having pilots attend multiple training events within a 2 or 3 year period.

After reading Jack's email I thought hard and decided to change my vote
Instead of voting NO, my vote is now "Not only NO but Puck NO". No emotion and no retaliation just NO because what is being offered is concessionary and I don't like being threatened.

Too bad the cats I heard on the bus lapping up the 'well written, straight forward, professional,' nature of his last email will be loving this one as well. It's like the people who were glad for the 'missives' from a few months ago, I guess I'll never 'get it'. Alas

Jack, first get facts right,
1. Foreign earned income exclusion is $82,400, not the $82,000 you, the company, and PW espouse. Hope they can do taxes better than they can quote IRS codes. It changed two years ago!
2. Yes, you traveled to Asia. Unfortunately, you only landed at HKG. You visited outside Macau and in Guangzhou. After hearing the relocation brief in Guangzhou you realized all other US companies with US employees there, provide full ex-pat packages, to include full housing costs, tuition, and car with bilingual driver. However, admitedly, I wasn't there, so please feel free to explain where I may be incorrect .
3. The company can go back and renogotiate, if they want to. The question is how important is China and Europe to them. The only message it will send the crew force is we need to work this out. We all want that.
4. Both sides didn't agree to the LOA. Remember any agreement on the unions part requires a vote by the membership. How about the message you send if it passes, tell them whatever we want is our last offer, and they will accept.
Mr. Lewis, this LOA stinks and I reject it. Sounds like you may be out of a job and going to S/O school if its rejected.

Almost every other point had some sort of negative, subliminal, the sky might fall (on us) ring to it. Kind of anyway. Not sure how to describe it. I just read it and havent digested it all yet. Vey interesting though!
The title....LOA FDA politics? I dont think politics is the correct term. Maybe debate would be better. OK....a little politics.
An extension to the contract that either adds or modifies? Or, maybe takes away would be a term one could use.
FedEx is a for profit business? I could agree on that. The question is how much profit at the expense of the crew members? I am sure that there is enough profit to be made in Asia with the new hub to be able to throw a few more bones our way. Or maybe not.
The reasons why the company cant renegotiate are interesting. Maybe the NC and Company can establish a new business relationship. A novel idea! And if the Company and ALPA perceive that the crew members want something that we feel is more fair, then maybe find out what those things are, within reason, and establish new goals.
And then the remark about pilot apathy and future flying not much of a concern to the pilots. Well, I will give him the apathy part.
Pretty interesting email, I must say.
