Yeah, so if the top ten guys have training in the same month, and they all want their training on the same slot, one guy will get it.

It's theoretical of course, but it sounds like a possible loss for nearly everyone but the very top guys.

That's brilliant! Who ever would have guessed it? Must be a Navy guy?

You are first dibs at picking up open time trips in the View/Add window, though. Worked out great for me. Good luck!

Be very careful with this though. If you are indeed trying to drop your R-days for view/add make sure that your 12 hour buffer isnt dropping your last R-day in the block.

Example: If your sim ends at 1300 LCL time, then your RA day is dropped for the next day. If there are no more R-days after the dropped R-day due to the buffer then your whole block of R-days will not be dropped.

Is that clear as mud? Me too........

I'm not saying its bad and I'm not saying its great, as I only have one personal data point to reference my opinion. My only point was that you said "most of us". Are you referencing the whole seniority lsit, those on this board, just junior guys? Its really all relative within the groupl you are bidding against each month. The most senior in that group theoretically wil do better than the most junior group. If that month has mostly junior guys, or mostly senior guys....well you get the idea. Is your point that only a couple guys each month get a good deal and everyone else gets crap? Too many variables - how you bid, where you live (commuter?), what your line is, etc. Too early to tell for me.

I was able to get the training slot I wanted back in April, my first choice, and I'll get my next shot next month (I got reset in June when I went out on medical and missed my sim in Apr and May). I am hardly one of the very top guys (> 90% last spring, and barely < 90% now)! I'll let you know how it turns out!

I'm just saying that I think we thought the new "Bid for Training Option" in place of Substitution would be a better deal than it has turned out to be for most of us. I haven't got a training slot I wanted yet (junior of course), in addition when a training slot is assigned over a trip now it is my responsibility to find the pay back through flying open time trips (if they fit). Then the company comes along and takes your training slot away from you because they need it for a guy that failed, and wammo your SOL for the true value of the trip you lost, and you don't get paid for the training either. Company just says sorry so sad.

That's the senario that happened to me recently, cost me 10 hours and a good commuter line plus a training bid hassel and slot the next month that I didn't bid for. No option of going to the view/add in the middle of the month after your training slot is canceled (if you could find something that fit anyway). If substitution still applied, I'd have been home getting paid or at the least not out any $$.
