Minimums are 3000TT and 1000 turbine PIC. Competetive?
Yes, we have hired PFE's within the past year.
Are we hiring? Yes, the latest flight ops hotline said hiring the remainder of the year.
Since May of 1996 (My DOH) there was only one furlough. Guess the year? 2001. It only lasted about 30 days. We tend to staff for minimum flying and use (abuse?) reserves and volunteers to make up the rest.
Homebasing is based on the most geographically close airport. You can make a temporary change within certin limits.
Hadj flying was taking muslim pilgrams to and from Jeddah. It was actually great flying at the time and could be one big party. I learned alot about the muslim religion and it changed to way I think of muslims today. Since 9/11, we haven't done it because the military market is far more profitable than doing the Hadj.
Trips? Passenger: Fly from a military base here to Europe. Fly a round trip from Europe to the Middle East. We have a contract to fly oil workers from Houston to Angola. Don't worry, it's a senior trip. Cargo: Midwest and East coast to Europe. Europe to the Middle East to Asia. Canada to Europe.
The answer is yes. We don't have enough DC-10 crews to operate what we have and what we're going to get (oops, did I just say that). We have a lot of very senior F/Es with lots of sick time in the bank.
Whom to call, not sure, but keep sending in that resume.
Are the PFE interview candidates required to do a sim ride as part of the interview? If so, how indepth do they expect it to be without any DC-10 training? Also, how long is the ground phase and sim phase of training and where is it held at? Thanks in advance.

No sim checks for PFE's, just be yourself.
Do you already have a FEX certificate with a TurboJet endorsement? Looking at your Avatar, looks like a L-180 something? Expereience on the 10 would be good, but it isn't a show stopper not to have it.

Thanks for the info there guys, especially the World guys. Good to get the inside scoop.
In regards to my end of things: I have about 6,000TT and around 1,800 PIC Turbine, when I put my resume the middle of last November. All the turbine is in the EMB-145 (5,000 hours total in that Brazilian wonder machine.)
Got called for an interview a few weeks ago. Still not sure the date I will interview, sometime in April was what I'm told. (I wasn't able to call back for a few days and I think they wanted me to come interview then...so in the next round, from what I could gather.)
Anyone else out there have an interview scheduled for April?
Six thousand hours on the P-3 Orion (L-188), 2years, turboprop FE ticket, A+P, passed the FE turbojet writtens, and a couple of Embry Riddle degrees. Hopefully being myself wont blow an interview LOL!!

Good luck my brother! Keep me posted, as I will you.
Islander Driver,
Congrats on the interview! I've been waiting for the same call. Nothing yet. I am glad you posted your times. It gives us all an idea of where we stand. I have close to 8000tt, 3500pic 145, BUT only an Associates degree. Embry Riddle is reviewing my stuff today for the online Bachelor program. Would you mind if I asked what is you level of education?
Is a type rating in one of the fleet viewed favorably? I am all set to do a B747-400 type. I know its not the majority of the fleet but I'm trying to cover all possible bases if World does not call me. Suggestions?
