I agree, let them have at it.

The slots will be filled whether cliffy bids it or not. I don't blame him. The only thing the union says is bid it only if you are willing to fly it for bus pay. To me, it sounds very similar to hong kong is only targeting a specific demographic.

Me, I'm not bidding either.

Default The Blame Game.....

here's a concept....

instead of always looking for someone ELSE to blame for decisions that YOU make - just make a decision based on the best information you have at the time, and then live with whatever the consequences or rewards may turn out to be.

no one has a crystal ball. no one can predict in advance with 100% accuracy the outcome of all their decisions.

it's called personal responsibility - a rare commodity these days.

go ahead and bid the 777 - but don't look for anyone to blame but yourself when the results of your actions come back less than desireable.

And, usually, when you find yourself rationalizing and defending your actions even before you have taken them - that's usually a pretty good sign you're headed down the wrong road in the first place.

philosophy lesson for the day - complete.

WOW!!! How much more senior do you think the most junior F/O will be in relation to you. One thousand, two thousand, or three thousand numbers? I am impressed by your stand on the issue!!!

Boy you are cranky. I like how you distort my whole post by selectively duplicating only the last sentence. The point of this thread is no one should put it on their standing bid to send a message. So my standing bid is as important as yours.

That said, the real underlying point of my post is the Union thinks some demographics are more important to fight for than others. Unfortunately you are in the category they fight for. Is there a better indication of what is wrong with ALPA?

FH, actually, you were under the bus before DW threw you into the driver's seat. There's about 4500 pilots who got thrown under the bus to serve the interests of you and your crowd of NDs. Stealing from the poor to give to the rich.....a fine tradition called "the right thing to do"!

I'm trying to understand the implications of this thread, and although I don't plan to bid the Trip 7, I'm finding it difficult to follow all the "logic" that's been bounced around here. With that in mind, could someone please let me know, of the top 2 or 3 hundred guys (in seniority order), how many of them are: 1) over 60; and 2) between 55 and 60. I ask these questions because from reading this thread, it seems that most, if not all of the guys here seem to think that it's only guys whom you have affectionately named "The Near Deads" who will fly the 777. So thanks in advance for your helping me get a better understanding of this contentious issue.

Maybe because without an acceptable payscale they are mostly the only ones still willing to bid it, besides a few Cliffys. Remember, many/most were willing to work for $10K-$20K sitting sideways.

But who knows?!
