I can hardly believe I'm agreeing with WOXOFF ... but I've said this for some time. And I think those guys are pathetic. Geez ... do something with your life to give it some meaning in your "golden years." Volunteer, golf, fish, garden, travel, restore an old car, build a home built airplane in your garage ... you get the idea.

When I'm intellectually honest, I know the law had to change.

Buy a backbone? Whatever. I can't let the motive of other folks affect how I logically look at an issue.

If you think about it, just about everyone other than your immediate family would rather you carry a cardboard sign before they have to give up anything. What does that prove?

Actually Gunter, our union's position is that they would rather see the current reduction of BLG hours down to the 68/85 hour monthly minimums, rather than seeing any of our junior members furloughed. This is also what the majority of our membership believes, from what I have seen at union meetings.

So I don't think you are correct when you say that any of us aren't willing to give something up to keep our junior members (including you?) from carrying cardboard signs. I'm very proud that we are willing to collectively giving up a great deal to keep our junior members from getting furloughed.

I agree. A poor choice of words on my part has communicated something other than what I intended. My point was lost.

I have been impressed with the MEC's position to share the pain. I was not talking about that. I have and will continue to praise that effort.

I wanted to respond to Aeris. My point was most people will go into survival mode at a certain point. When cornered, the human animal will fight.

I don't think most of us can say we have walked in the shoes of pilots around or over 60. We all imagine they live very comfortably and we "know" how they should live out the rest of their lives. But many do not live comfortably and we don't really know what it's like to be them. I can't let a few obnoxious individuals, or even inflammatory comments from usually considerate people, change how I think an issue be decided. Likewise, I do not support individuals with a slick demeanor who try to sway me to their side when I don't fundamentally agree with it.

Rhetoric is cheap...

All joking aside, I say treat them well until they choose to go.

Even in that case, I would could harldy fault junior W/B FOs and CAs for jumping on the 777 if they thought they might get excessed shortly thereafter. Don't like it, but I understand.
