Default FDX MD11 Gouge Help

I go in a month to the Mad Dog, and wanted to get a few weeks of reading and study done prior.

Any one with any gouge recommendations, study tips, FMS Gouge, or how to access the FMS trainer on CMI, when your a commuter would be greatly appreciated.

I'm so excited about my 3 months in Memphis as a commuter...ugh, but that is the price of NOT living in Memphis...

Semper Gumby and thanks in advance!

Since you did not state what aircraft your coming from my first recommendation is to go in even on your days off and get all of your CMI done, complete, finished. This resets your clock and it is one less thing that after class each day you have to get done. Thust me you'll have plenty to do and to study. As far as reading the manual, well there are so many acnoyrms that will baffel your mind you will just get a headache. I would look at boldface and limitations and thats it. Limitations are not underlined as in other manuals, however you can quickly get a hold of another MD guy or instructor and they can point out which might be helpful to know for your oral,

If your coming from the DC-10 remember it's an electronic DC-10. All those checks that your second officer did are now done by the system controllers. Systems are pretty much the same as the 10. Do not get the attitude that if the the A/C is not doing what you want you can turn it all off and fly it like a 10. At least not in the training enviroment.

If your coming from the Bus, there are just a few differances in the FMS but you'll catch on very quickly.

If your coming from the 727 then at least you've been a Captain and that is one less thing to worry about.

Finally I've been through the Bus when it was AQP and the Mad Dog when it was not. Others will chim in I'm sure to offer you the most up-to-date gouge. I think our instructors are excellent with no real wankers that I know about. Its a big mountain to climb so just keep taking small bites and you will get thru it. About 3 months from the time you walk in the door. Good Luck I hope your junior to me............

And If you do come from the DC-10 don't even think for a moment that it will handle or you can do the things we did on the 10. That pig (MD11) handles like it was on control wheel stearing all day.

P.S. by the way the Mad Dog is the MD83

Guys,

I came from the 10, after a brief tour of all 3 seats...

Thanks so far!

I'm putting windows on a Mac right now to do the CMI on the LMS system as a start.

Here's my advice - front-loading's good, but remember: this is a marathon, not a sprint. Don't get burned out before your first day of class.

The 10 is the perfect pre-school for the 11. Get the CMI done "for credit" before class, and then rest up.....

C'mon Huck! We call it the Mad Dog. Other carriers can call their MD's what they like.

Next thing you we will have to start wearing jackets and caps and acting in a respectable manner!

Cheers,
Beertini

For what it's worth: when I started processing Magenta versus White on the FMA, everything got easier.

Best video game I ever played.......

Are CMI and LMI the same thing? What specifically am I allowed to start doing 30 days prior to class? Sounds like poor FlynLow might be stuck with a pig looking at a wristwatch (that's me...) for his FO...
