Roberto how does this affect our "experienced" pilots that haven't upgraded yet?

Flame on.
All I know is anyone using view limiting devices over the Pacific will be furloughed first

That being said, it sounds like a trial balloon much like Fed Ex is floating, except they may well really be overmanned, and even given that I don't see them furloughing either.

I know most FDX guys are mad about the possible guarantee reductions to prevent furloughs over there.... However, if their company truly decides to pursue that venue, at least the burden will be shared by all purple pilots....

Personally, I wish we had something similar in our contract; it would at least spread out the sacrifices from the junior guys only to all of us, including those who already have a lot - especially the over 60 lottery winners... (and yes I'm biased here)...

Rumor has it that your rumor numbers are way off. That's about 15% of the pilots with that said i agree we're about 200 pilots fat so let's start with unqualified flight manglers.

I agree, get rid of the manglers first. I would bet they are scrambling to justify their jobs, probably writing a MRB as we speak!

I can't see them parking all the 8's in that time frame and not totally disrupting the system at the same time. The training events this will create would be a huge burden on the training centers.

Let's hope for unity among the pilot group, we are far from that at the moment. Any idea how many geezers would accept a buy-out?

If by geezers you mean experienced pilots I'd say zero.

I heard one not too long ago say the company would have to pay him more to leave than he'd make by staying until 65; and he meant "more" than his total pay here, international override, per diem, B-plan, etc, etc...

Thankyou for the correction, I meant "experienced". I must have slipped due to my lack of experience!

I am not surprised by that comment at all, I figure very few would accept the offer. Recently in ANC I overheard a couple of "experienced" pilots complaining about how difficult the J/seat situation is. Took all I had not to comment. Hope they are miserable.

Word! If I'm not out by 60 I've screwed up big time and will be funding a few ex-wives!

A little off the subject and I might have asked this already but if there are priority 3 & 7 jumpseaters going to/from ANC and the operating crew has no plans of using the bunk who does the bunk "belong" to?

I ask because I heard not too long ago a priority 3 FO who was trying to use the bunk was told by a priority 7 "experienced pilot" on the same flight that he'd be using the bunk because he only had 3 hours on the ground in ANC before operating a flight to NRT and then he added that he was "senior to him!" (The other bunk bed already being used by the other priority 3 captain).

The guy didn't argue especially since he got no backup from his captain (apparently they were friends) but I think that's so uncool of someone to jumpseat into ANC just a few hours before operating a looonmg flight across the pond and on top of that to use that as an excuse to take the bunk from a priority 3 guy.

So who's right?
