Default bottom 300 at UPS

so... I know this isn't going to be popular, but my belief is that the bottom 300 should all sign up for the max RDG or something. I'm not debating what is fair, or over 60, or anything other than pure numbers at this point. When it is down to the wire, you need to ask yourself if RDG pays more than your unemployment. I know the budgets don't work with 50% pay, at least mine doesn't... but it is still better than unemployment. You can debate who is responsible, who should contribute, what is fair, etc... but just my .02 on getting something better than the street.

There are still a few days left give the rest of the pilots a chance to contribute. 500 more jumped in over the weekend and I think more are trying to figure out how to do it financially.
Hope the program works.

Question

Why are you assuming the bottom 300 have not maxed out? I think the numbers from this weekend show any fence sitters are now signed up. The only ones who have not stepped up are the early retirements (who said they would) the VLOA's, and 2000 other IPA'ers.

The survey never asked what was an acceptable early out. So, if the incentive was not what they were expecting then they are not going to sign up.

I think you can tell from the numbers on the chart that the bottom 300 haven't maxed out. They are 60% away from the goal. If 300 signed up for JS or RDG or Leave or Mil, then they would be a lot closer than the 40% that they are at now.

If it's 100% Unity @ IPA, then it's now or never. If we can't help out 300 of our own, we've lost our way.

If we don't meet the goal next week and furloughs begin in September, I'm pitting the blame on ourselves. UPS has no choice to furlough with the significant loss of volume we've had, people.

I am going to disagree. UPS made just short of 1 billion dollars last quarter, they do not have to layoff.
They came to the union with a lose/lose proposition for the IPA take a pay cut or we will layoff, they didn't say they where going to layoff and then offer a pay cut instead, they started with the pay cut. The company told ANC crews at the beginning of the year no layoff, Barr and Lekhites, so they have had in mind the paycut. They also knew that it would require a vote and that it would probably fail.
The IPA came up with the layoff mitigation plan and ran a survey of a list of options, they got ATL to agree to let us try, local management wanted to dump people on the street and inflict as much pain as possible via layoffs, loss of seat, domicile changes and all the crap that may occur.

This is UPS at the finest, they set the dollar amount we have to hit, they determine if we have done it, etc.

Ok, and everyone who will be downgraded or lose money by no longer being a lineholder as a result of the realignment/displacement should contribute that difference as well. Right?

For all of the IPAers upset about the plan, the EB, UPS, people who picked up open time 5 years ago when they thought they might upgrade, or the bottom 300 for not doing what you think they should: Would it have been better for UPS to have just announced a layoff of 300 back in March?
