Default FedEx- ANC purple nuggets

Have the ANC purple nuggets started training for their MEM positions or are they still flying the MD11 in ANC? Does their training start after the Paris bid closes? Just curious.

It is following the training letter. If you were awarded a slot that starts pre-closure time frame, you can expect to be in Memphis training.

I am an 09-02 awardie(bus to 75) and started Monday.

I have an ANC FO in my class, but he is not a nugget.

A nugget rode our jumpseat this week and he said he is going to 727 S/O school in February.

After guys have trained on other equipment than the Mad Dog, will they loose the affectionate handle "purple nugget?" In my opinion, it should be gone.

Default Poor Purple Nuggets ...

You know, I feel a little bit bad (just a little bit) for the purple nuggets. The thought they'd hit the lottery by getting hired at FedEx and then getting an immediate MD-11 f/o position (even if it was in ANC). Yahoooooooo .....

First they get hit with the 4.a.2.b pay cut (like the rest of us), then they get downgraded to MEM 727 s/o (also with a 4.a.2 b pay cut!) ... I mean, that would really s*ck. I know the alternative is being unemployed but the word "grateful" isn't exactly what comes to mind (and I've been downgraded and furloughed at other "once great airlines)."

Not to worry, when things turn around (whenever that may be) FedEx will try to staff the ANC pilot base again. Of course, not enough people will bid it so they'll be forced to hire into that seat again. Hence Purple Nuggets Part Deux, and we'll be right back where we started with a "mis-aligned" seniority list.

BTW, I think most of us start heading to the school house in the fall. Feb 15th for me, I'm right in the middle of the group.

I heard a rumor that the swine flu has struck the DC-10 guys particularly hard. Especially the ones going to 4.A.2.b seats.

Mr Haywood, in 75 systems class, do you sit at the end of the row?
