You guys and your Army talk. Geesh...
It is written policy that we give 2% to ALPA. You may give more, and guys with 37 other airlines under their belt may think giving more is wise. But that dioes not mean I am a bad person if I follow the guidance and only kick in 2%.

This thread reminds me of Eric Idle in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail". "I'm not dead yet!!"

Just to keep the thread going, I'm a brown guy and we have similar travel policies I'm sure.

I rode j/s on SWA from Florida through Nashville to ONT to catch my scheduled SWA ticket to OAK. The crew operating BNA-ONT was also doing the ONT-OAK leg. I explained that I was going to OAK but had to get off and get my ticket once in ONT. Which brought up the whole ticket bank/travel discussion. Both pilots looked at me like I was insane and couldn't figure out why I went through so much hassle instead of just j/sing BNA-OAK.

I told them it was the right thing to do but they still shook their heads.

I will also use guidance from the other airlines when they chose to supply it to me. I will not add something extra to the ALPA guidance just because you will feel better.

Please note alder’s prior condescension towards single airline Fedex pilots before piling on. did not intend to start a civilian vs military war. I respect all the guys and gals who worked their way up the hard way. But it does not enable them to read something extra into the written word.

Hmmmmm... I can't quite put my finger on it... But, something's odd about that.

Let me help: "had you spent more time" certainly is not the same as "had you spent anytime". Words have meaning.

Like "Never, under any circumstances, jumpseat on a flight off line in which you hold a revenue ticket" has a specific meaning.

Words do have meaning – don’t forget these either:

So, hey – you made a bad assumption on my background. No biggie.

So, how much military service should I spend to be worthy of the “knowledge of WOM”? I was planning on retiring this year. If you think I need a few more, let me know when it’s good for you and I’ll see if I can hold off a while.

Actually I did not make an assumption on your background. I specifically phrased it like I did because I did not know your background. As a matter of fact, "had you spent more time" implies that you did have a military background. I assumed you did not do enough time in the military to know that WOM is not worth the paper it is not written on. Obviously in your case 20 years was not enough. Please don't forget that post was written after several of your posts where you told us how the single airline Fedex guys were not savy enough to understand the nuance of offline jumpseating.

Refresh my memory what was wrong with my second quote:

"I did not intend to start a civilian vs military war. I respect all the guys and gals who worked their way up the hard way. But it does not enable them to read something extra into the written word."

Do you multi-airline guys have a special ability to read extra stuff into the written word?
