Thumbs up A Brown November to Remember

I don't know how many if any fellow IPAers are following our mechanic's contract negotiations. Certainly our IPNN seems to be under-reporting on this. So, talk to your mechanics. Find out for yourself how things are going for them.

Not that I've had any success reading tea leaves but, a release from negotiations followed by a thirty day cooling off period seems like a real possibility in the very near future. Be prepared.

Thats the feed back I am getting when I ask. Very limited pool of mechanics that I talk with though.

Furloughed mechanics, pilots on edge of getting furloughed, Low morale and lying/cheating managment. This is starting to feel like flying for passenger carriers.Ups a AAA company (YAWN) more like a DDDD from here. SAD

Agreed. Negotiations in 2 years with 300 of us on the street will be interesting.

If it works like other companies those of us on the street will eventually be forgotten. The contract negotiations will go on as usual.

OUT of SIGHT out of MIND......

The pilots who remain here will barely remember you or totally forget you in 4 to 6 months. And if it ever comes up they will just think to themselves that we should have not been hired in the first place. It was just an short economic bubble that caused us to be hired.....

the only time they will give you a thought is when they look at their paycheck and see an assessment and then they will despise you.....

This is a fact,,,lived through it before

I'm sure that if there is a furlough, more than a few of the 300-400 will wish that they had stayed where they were. I know some of the guys that are in that group. Their old jobs were not bad, they were just looking for a better one. 30K the first year, bouncing around the UPS system followed by a furlough does not constitute a better job. Don't tell a guy how great his employer is when he is unemployed in Anchorage while his expanded family/support group is in the lower 48.

Frontseat,

I wish I could dispute what you wrote, but I tend to agree with you. I was on probation during the last contract and what I constantly heard on the line was how guys were disgusted with 1st year pay and that it was going to get corrected in the next contract. Well, contract 06' comes out and there is nary a word about 1st year pay. It's all about how their personal situation was affected. It's the nature of man to be center-focused.

Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst.

"A November to remember" cards are beginning to show up in the airplanes, tucked into various places, like the logbook...
