This thread is definitely deserving of "sticky" --- but, the thread you really need to read is the one above it.

A long read? --- yes. Worth it? --- most definitely!!

Does this TA fix 4A2b anywhere close to something that is acceptable and protects us from getting bent over again? So what happens when the postal contact expires and we only get a partial renewal? What if we have another (God forbid) 9/11 happens? You know they (extremist) are trying. Double dip? Not likely, but.....

I never thought 4A2b would ever need to be enacted...but it was. Whats to say it won't happen again. It is possible. My big beef with this TA is the general, non specific entry and exits of 4A2b.

I am still a NO vote.

So, should we furlough the next time one of these events happen? Just asking.

Actually.......yes. I lost close to $50k in 4a2b. If our Union had approached me and said "Hey, 300 guys are going to be furloughed.......we want you to contribute a Wide Body Captain share of $500 a month so we can give the furloughee's 727 S/O pay and cover their family insurance ..." I would have been all over that. As would i think most folks on our property. The furloughee's would have gotten the same pay as they did being excessed to the back of the 27 their families would have been taken care of and i would be out about $8k and held onto my seat...........Win/Win.

No! Most of us with a sense of honor and integrity would agree to not throw our junior members under the furlough bus.

But as for a few 4A2B ideas, NO Draft or Volunteer, Monthly Pay Cap from entry to exit, elimination of loopholes that will only exploit our already vulnerable position, include all aircraft and all domiciles.

I had my issues with TC during the DW days, but redemption is a sign of powerful healing. He won't pay for a drink around me any time soon. Thanks TC, well done!

I respect your question.

I am all for shared sacrifice but as we both know that is not what happened when 4A2b was happening. I actually like 4A2b but want much more defined language to it. The company could have exited a good 6 months earlier if they hadn't of spread the total hours out across more lines with massive carry over and only built in 6-8% reserves instead of a typical month of 12-15% reserves.

I wanted better defined entry and exit language and this 'Hybrid' TA does not have it. The MEC said it will be addressed during the next phase of negotiations which will be at least 3-4 years from now. Unacceptable to me.
