Default FedEx- FAA crew rest rule change

Anyone hearing any information about how the new crew rest rules will affact the schedules and manning?

You guys will grow larger and we just keep shrinking. Fred will hire more pilots to move the stuff while our CEO wanna be will just farm away until this place implode. We have had more flt cancellation this past month due to lack of crews than last yr all together. Lately ups has become md11 training school for future new hires at fedex, gotta love that but hey training doesn't cost anything here.

Heard from a senior Capt at FedEx, that if the crew rest rules go into effect the number he had heard was 800 more just to fill that void...

To borrow heavily from a 1790's anti-french slogan: Billions for the lawyers, but not one cent for the crew force.

That's what I'm hearing also. Something about showing rest in base before you start a trip. Double dh will become very popular if that is the case.

I heard they left commuting rules alone. My source is good. Hopefully that info from months ago didn't change.

Not even sure how enforcement or policing of that is even possible.

"Yeah, I live in Fayetteville and I drove a couple of hours to the airport tonight before flying?"

These new rules are not going to get into the very very grey area of what a guy "does" before work.

Hopefully expect longer crew rest and shorter duty days after having checked-in.

FedEx ALPA has a rep on the NPRM committee. I asked him this specific question. He said there has NEVER been discussion concerning crew rest prior to beginning a trip. So ... I'm guessing your "source" isn't a very good one.

Any questions, please email our ALPA rep yourself and ask him!*?
