Default 767ER P to F conversion

Here's a story that should create more traction for the FedEx 767 rumors.....

767-300F is a perfect replacement for the MD-10-10's and I can see an eventual 767-400 based freighter replacing the few -30's we have. Unless there is a pretty significant shift in system form, however, no 767 variant is close to replacing the MD-11 the way we fly it now. Of course, as 777's continue to displace MD-11's off some of the traditional routes, we won't really need the extra lift of the Mad Dog so maybe the 767 is a "right-sizing." I'm voting for the Sonic Cruiser.

Don't worry fellas, I am sure the amazing management team at brown is looking at ways of buying the -10's and -30's that are bound for the desert. The cheapest company on the planet will find a way to make this idea work.

I wonder how much market share UPS has lost to FedEx under the "Davis Doctrine"?

Wonder if Wall-Street is watching? I'm sure they are

With such a limited supply of Rolls Royce powered 767's would FedEx really want them? IIRC QANTAS and British Airways are the only major operators of 767's with these engines.

FedEx has no problems operating fleets with mixed engine types. The 757 has a mix of Pratts and Rolls, while the A300/310s have a mix of Pratts and GEs, as does the MD-11 Fleet. The only pure engine types have been on the DC-10s/MD-10s, 727 and the 777.

When given a choice on new airplanes, the company seems to prefer GE.

Would the 767 (either the 400 or 300) be a suitable replacement for the A300? I would love to see a all-Boeing fleet.

Why? FedEx has never liked being hostage to one manufacturer. It loves playing the two sides against each other.

The range difference is significant, if international ops are a consideration. If new, I think Airbus has stopped production, but Boing is still making the 767.

Airbus A300-600 versus Boeing 767-300ER

364,000 lbs MTOW 412,000 lbs
4,158 nm range 6,102 nm
