Default Question for former AA pilots now at FedEx

Thinking of jumping ship after 13 years at AA and heading to FedEx, if they will have me.. Any former APA guys/gals currently at FedEx with some pros and cons?? Currently 48 y/o and just a bit worried..
Thanks,
Ed

You should know that a handfull of your "buds" at AA burned a few bridges with FedEx management about 14 years ago when they lied about turning in their seniority numbers at AA while they were on furlough. FedEx hired them in good faith, then when AA started recalling, they quit FedEx and went back to AA. For a while, one of our former Chief Pilots was quoted as saying he'd never hire another furloughed pilot. I think we are past that now, but there is still some bad history to overcome. Good luck!

I'll bite. I was furloughed off the 767I in 2005. I have really enjoyed most of what I have done and flown at FDX. I have especially enjoyed the FDX international flying. At AA I used to think CDG and LHR were international, But now they almost feel like the conus compared to everywhere else we fly.

My only suggestion is to Jumpseat to and from Memphis during the night hub turn and see what the vast majority of our pilots do. It might give you a little perspective.

Or pm me if you want to know any specifics

You know this for a fact????

How about they turned in their seniority numbers and AA just held on to the resignations and never filed them.

Not FedEx.
Some of the exNWA, ex DAL and ex UAL that have come to UPS have not been very happy.
The growth that they expected doesn't exist.
You might want to look at fleet break down , postal contracts, etc.
The future may be good for FDX it just might not be good for a new hire pilot at FDX.
Good luck, sorry about the disaster that has occurred at AA. Always treated great by the AA pilots.

There was a 9 year AA guy (3 9 year NWA also) in my 06 UPS class. Last time I talked to him, he was pretty happy. He actually had several holidays off that he could never hold, made more money and had more time off.

Flies int'l out of ANC, can't remember MD or -400, so no night hub turns.

Assuming FDX is the same, int'l is a much better gig IMO than the night sort.

You Got it Right! International system form at FedEx is way different than Domestic.
Life on the MD-11, if you can hold International, and the 777 is a completely different Lifestyle than the Domestic 727, 757 and even A-300.

Don't get me wrong, We do have some very Hard International trips as well as some very sweet domestic trips (if your Senior), But for the most part for an average Middle of the road Seniority pilot, Life in the International system is way better.

I have flown with four or five former AA guys hired in the recent past. I don't think the bridge burning still applies. I think Foodog wants to know if the former AA guys are currently happy with their decision. IE would they still do it?
