UPS to hire 40 pilots
From the IPA:
UPS announced today that it plans to hire 40 new pilots by the end of 2014. The Company cited attrition and retirements as driving the decision to hire these pilots.
"This is a step in the right direction," stated IPA President Bob Travis. "We hope to see the Company build on this progress with additional pilot hiring." UPS said that it will announce the details of this process in the near future.
The Company stated that business needs will dictate the timing and pace of future pilot hiring.

UPS Announces Plans to Hire Pilots by the End of 2014
UPS announced today that it plans to hire 40 new pilots by the end of 2014. These new positions are a result of attrition and anticipated retirements.
UPS continues to assess business and economic conditions and will make future staffing decisions accordingly. It is because of our considerate approach to managing our business that we are in the position today to add these new crewmembers.
The company’s business needs will dictate the timing and pace of future job opportunities. As always, we must continue to focus on running a safe, on-time airline and taking every available opportunity to grow our business.

Management here couldn't run a Laundry Mat. Or a Dog Show for that matter.
We just got our last guys back this week and they are now going to Hire? Do they have any Idea what they are doing? No is the answer.
They don't know what retirements are 6 months ago? It looks like the guys should have been back months ago. What's going to happen this peak with no contractors? We, in my opinion, should have a open time ban, and work to the book. Taxi at 3 mph, etc. IMO. This is a start towards a descent contract.

Sad part is the next in line is another Wharton-Gecko clone (current CFO) that also has no interest in customer service and revenue growth...all they care about is cost control at all costs.
Odds are they got wind that the cargo cut-out is going away, which BTW is SOLELY due to the efforts of IPA.

Will there be an application window? Or apply via UPS web site? Or Air Apps?
Thanks!
