How much time are you from upgrade? Compare salary, benefits, and terms and conditions. Perhaps F/Os with MIA can shed light on conditions, pay, benefits sand QOL. Personally IMO not worth the switch.

New hire classes are happening, I think a couple new classes of 4 are starting in August and September, so 8 new hires plus 3-4 more upgrades. Don't quote me on that though, things change a lot around here.

We have been extremely busy the past couple months and are running really short on both Captains and First Officers. We are losing quite a few FO's and even Captains to Spirit and other major airlines. The good news is most people that are new hires today will probably have the chance to upgrade within 3-4 years, maybe less.

As far some making the move from a regional to Miami Air, it really depends on how close to upgrade you are. If your within 1-2 years of upgrade at your regional, I would stick it out there. The pay and QOL is in my opinion better than a regional if you live in or near Miami.

Thanks for the responses. I've been turned into a commuter at my regional and can not accurately predict upgrades where I'm at due to all the uncertainty. But I do live in miami and like the idea of not commuting anymore.

Is min guarantee still only to be expected or have things changed and pick up OT or get more hours? How is health care and/or other benefits? Also how many days away on trips typically?

I know some these questions have been answered in previous posts, just seeing if anything has changed. Thanks!

All of my and Anthony210's previous posts are still valid. Even with being undermanned currently, there's little (read rare, but possible) opportunity to break guarantee. That's driven by scheduling's default trip mentality - commercial out as a whole crew, fly a day or two, then commercial home. Home for a day or two then repeat. The days spent commercialing combined with breaks at home make it very hard to get enough block time to break guarantee.

That being said, they will offer to buy your days off when we're busy, and that pays extra.

The guys in Amsterdam will likely all break guarantee, but that's because the scheduling is completely different. The AMS trips are all turns, and there's no commercialing, which results in a far more efficient usage of the crews and more actual block hours. Holding AMS is a crap shoot. One guy held it that was in the second-most recently hired class.

MAI is not going anywhere, they have a niche and keep chugging along....Eastern, they are having trouble getting going.

So Miami Air isn't recommended? Currently live in Miami as well and wanted to get more information on trip length and how much time is at home? Just wanted to gather more information before applying as commuting for a regional as an F/O has become pretty bad. Thanks in advance.
