I had one LOR and it was from a guy in the class ahead of me, so I don't know how much it mattered. Otherwise I had no connection to the airline but I do have Twin Cities connections and made it clear that I planned to move to the area if hired. They hired me and I did.
Like everyone else in my class, I was fairly high time. I don't know about other classes, but the low time pilots in my class have about 5000 hours and all were captains in their previous jobs.
If you want to work here, apply.

Its a very unique place, with fun flying and awesome people. The culture is its best asset, alongside its QOL with schedule. No its not the highest paying, and the training contract is what it is...but theres a reason there is still a line to get in the door and it still takes a decent resume with (usually) an internal rec.

Wouldn't surprise me. I've heard the crack management team fumbled away one of the planes we were supposed to lease. I always hear the sales and marketing teams want more and more planes but for some reason the ownership group never gets them. It's a coin flip to say we will sink or swim! I hope we get bought by someone that wants to grow or by Southwest.

Sun Country has gate spaces, a route structure, planes, pilots, flight attendants, mechanics, ground equipment, multiple hangars all at MSP. The airline Generated 600+ million in revenue and profits of more than 35 million, (thats what the employees were told based on company profit sharing in 2015). It would immediately make SW the only player at terminal 2 at MSP. The MAC has planes for terminal 2 to have a total of 20 gates.
AS way over paid for VA... It still would make sense for SW to buy SC to eliminate competition and add capacity for a couple hundred million dollars just like they did to Airtran...
