Familiar with the first-year pay, unfriendly reserve schedule, and training contract, what is drawing commuters to Sun Country?

True, First year pay is only 48/hr 75 hours a month, then after first year the it goes to a minimum of 70 hours and most junior lines arent much more than 70 hours.
Take into consideration Sun Country currently doesnt pay for a hotel during new hire training. The first month is all systems, Procedures training and indoc, That is all held at a bulding at the airport. The second month is sims and IOE into the third month and that is at the Pan Am building in Eagan. So If you are not from here it would be wise to have a car. It's not an easy or commuter friendly place. Buyer beware.

Lack of research probably.

Better QOL and pay potential than their regional, and arguably an overall better place to be if the music stops or while waiting for a Legacy call. I know a few commuters (that I thought were crazy) and they are really enjoying it and seem to be content with their QOL commuting and are much happier than they were at their regionals.

I agree 100%, it is better than a regional but with the flows why would you leave? If I had 1500 hours I would go to a regional with a flow.
Management and ownership needs to realize that it's gonna be a temporary place for commuters and new hire local pilots based on the new contracts that are being signed.

I'll let you know if they, or anyone else, calls because of my 737 type rating. Hasn't happened yet.

Notice he said experience. There is a wide difference between a type rating and time on type.

Rumor is numerous pilots who just recently got typed at Sun Country updated their airlineapps with the new type, got the call to interiew at Delta and/or UAL, got an offer, and resigned.
