[QUOTE=Whaledriver;1629434]"Ohhh Goodie, first look at Omni?" That was a quote from an ex-NAA guy here at Atlas, last nite.

easy for him to say - he has a job - for those needing employment at least they get first looks - and Omni is hiring

Omni is not perfect but they've never been bankrupt in over 20 years of doing business. At least they're trying to help some guys and girls on the street stay employed!

As many ALPA carriers out there that fly 767's, you'd think that it would be easy for them to scoop up their fellow ALPA brothers...

Well Packrat? You claim the inside track...is Lee gonna make it happen? Should be able to get them all in class before the next unemployment check...right?

It has nothing to do with equipment. "Current and qualified," only carries weight with smaller ACMI carriers with thin training budgets.

Delta set up preferential interviews for ALPA-represented DCI carriers due to the downsizing of their ranks. Several have been hired.

What can a pilot with a "first look" expect once joining the oai cadre? Can they expect to pick up where they left off flying the contract out of IAD for oai pay rates or can they expect to be assigned to the next 90 day trip after completing 2 months training without any pay? Also what is exactly involved with the "first look"? Does that mean that they are the first to get the TBNT letter?

Good luck to all the folks at both NAA and World! Fortunately a lot of companies are actively hiring and hopefully your idle time will be short lived.

I'm not sure what first look means either. Rumor has us hiring 40~50 pilots. We've had two class that I know of; one with 6 and the other with 9 I think. Training pay last time I check was $250 per week and $36 per day per diem. You stayed on this training pay until you either pasted your PC or 8 weeks which ever comes first. If you are already typed they might be able to offer a short course. I doubt any new hires will do the IAD flying. They can expected to do the Madrid 90 day TDY sometime after finishing IOE. It can be anywhere between right after training and three months after training depending on when the TDY bids come out. We have put out 20 upgrade in the last 3 weeks. The bid closes in about 10 days for the last 8 upgrade positions. Rumor has it that we will have more upgrades in May. The training dept is going to be swamped. Another rumor is we added two more 767-300 for the IAD flying. These were the ones leased by NAA. For a total of 9 767s. Tail numbers will be 441AX and 432AX. Our hourly pay rates are higher than both World's and NAA's are; however we don't have trip or duty rigs. You will hardly ever break guarantee unless you work extra days, a TDY, or this IAD flying. In 3 years of flying I've done it 6 times I think with out doing one of the above. Now I have work a lot of extra days while I've been here. They have always been in the black and as far as I can remember there have been only two furloughs and everyone was called back. Both where less than 6 months I believe. Omni is one of the few airlines that has not gone thru bankruptcy since 1989. Omni is what it is. Some here love it and some hate it. For the most part the line crews are great to work with.

Due to their "secret" or "top secret" qualifications, the pilots hired from NAA will go straight to the secret squirrel flying, Captains hired as Captains. FO's will be exempt from Madrid TDY. Since they are current and qualified, they get the "short course" and a PC, and they are online by the start of the contract. Same with FA's and ground support personnel. And FAA and Teamster's are onboard.

This is blasphemy, the Union chair himself said it is purely by seniority!

gunner is right about non-pilot staff. Pilots? Not so sure.
