Im actually here because of the quality of life; beats commuting / crashpads / only a handful of days off at a time, etc...

What does your username say about the quality of your personality?

The quality of life for people at Atlas varies greatly. Some live in Miami and sleep at home 20 days a month. Others gateway to ANC from the east coast and sleep at home 10 days a month and get imputed monthly. Hard to say which is the majority but my point is every bodies situation is different and what is great for some might be terrible for others. Most know what they are getting into before they come here.

I don't think any RJ guys are getting discriminated against due to attrition. Lots of new hire military are leaving too. I just think due to the ABX and World furloughs we have been temporarily hiring lots of them currently. We'll keep hiring RJ guys so don't get discouraged.

None of my friends or myself complain about the QOL at Atlas. Either you like this kind of work and schedule or you don't. Everyone wants to work less days for more money but that's life.

I love the kind of work and I love the "flexibility" in the schedule never knowing where I am going but that does not equate to QOL. For those of us that have done this type of flying for 15 years we know what an extra day or two at home each month means and the difference it makes. There were other ACMI carriers that did only 15-16 days a month and I will vouch that it made a difference and has nothing to do with the type of flying or schedule flexibility or changes made to it. Half the month is fair, more is not.

One man's "flexibility" is another man's "control"...

It sure took a few years for them to figure out what all freight dogs/multiple-carrier-furloughees could've/did tell them YEARS ago, but they just have to learn the hard way(probably soon to be forgotten).....

Damn shame that there are people like that out there. Because they are likely the same ones who will have an excuse when a picket line goes up...
It is true what is being said here concerning people getting the wrong idea about what can be achieved as a career at Atlas.

Atlas is a profitable company with plenty of money and many chances for advancement. Damn shame to see poeple treat Atlas like a stepping stone.

If you go way back, even the big 3 wouldn't be such great places to work had people not dug their feet in and commited themselves to staying and improving conditions overall.

Management would love nothing more than to have people stay a few years, and move on before they get any raises or QOL improvements.....

I've thought the same thing. I have been applying for 4 years. I finally got the invite to take the test a couple of weeks ago but haven't heard anything on an interview. I am a RJ Captain with over 4800 PIC 121 with a degree and Military background (not AF heavy but Army Helicopter). I'm a little long in the tooth so Atlas would be my last stop. Of couse I've read every Atlas thread plus talked to a lot of Atlas pilots so I know what I'm getting into.
It's really frustrating!

I'd love to haul freight around the world for 21 days at a time, I am aware that they also fly charters

Agreed 100%

Can you elaborate on how Miami based pilots are able to sleep at home 20 nights a month? What if someone lives outside of Mia I by 3 hours?

Is anyone able to paste a typical schedule for a junior FO both on reserve or as a line holder? Not asking for anything elaborate, just X for day on and O for day off would suffice. Thanks in advance.
