Default LAX / SNA Corporate

Hey guys,

I'm currently a LAX XJT FO, and was reading through these forums a bit about corporate gigs, and it seems that the general consensus is to just go out to some FBO's and hang out or work...

So with that in mind, which FBO's in the LA Basin and Orange County would you recommend checking out? I'm from Newport Beach, so anything around there would be preferable. I know Van Nuys / Burbank have a lot of corporate, however that drive would be brutal from Newport.

Would you guys recommend me getting a job at these FBO's? Maybe Signature out of SNA or something along those lines?

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Travis

Thanks I have considered them. I have heard mixed reviews about West Coast Charters however. One of my friends works there and was dissapointed with the way they do upgrades, or something like that. I called him yesterday, just waiting for him to return my phone call to find out more.

Thanks for the tip. Anything else?

it your serious about trying to get a corporate job I'll tell you what I did. I went to collage got all my ratings (instructor ratings included) than got a job at FlightSafety International as a Hawker copilot. They sent me through school on the airplane and I started working their as much as I could to make contacts. I flew with 135 guys and fortune 500 compinies. I had 325hrs TT when I started. I'm only 24 it took me 1 1/2 years and it had 1300hrs TT I got a job with a frotune 300 company flying a hawker 800xp and a Gulfstream 5. I may take a little while but if you can afford it it is worth it. Not sure how far from you it is but their is a Flightsafety in Long Beach.

WCC would be a foot in the door. At least you'd have a place to start. I'm sure they pay isn't any worse than your right seat job in the RJ, why not go talk to them? Who cares about the upgrade? Start somewhere, be nice, work hard and the upgrade will come, or you'll network enough to move into another operation.

I always am amused by the fact that some of these airline guys think they are going to jump from an RJ right into a "good" corporate job. Its pretty rare that some regional FO gets a shot at a fortune 500 job especially with no PIC time.

Like the above posters are suggesting, try to get on with a charter/135 company first. Even that is probably not very ease with todays market.

Good luck
