Default Which MFD?

I'm trying to decide which MFD to put into a King Air 300. I've read up on the Garmin GMX200, G600, King KMD850, and Avidyne EX5000 but I just can't make up my mind.

I'm leaning toward the EX5000 because as far as I can tell it's the only one that will display an entire approach plate.

And what options are there for incorporating a fuel management/monitoring system into the King Air? Something that will project remaining fuel at destination or even at your alternate. I'd love to install an FMS but it's cost prohibitive.

Any thought?

I fly with the GMX 200 w/radar, data link for weather, taffic and Jepp Flight view charts. It is a lot of eggs in one basket but it is a pretty awesome system. I love it. I would love it even more if we had one more as back up.

How is it viewing the Jepps on the GMX200? I can't help but think that having to bounce back and forth from the top of the chart to the bottom of the chart while on an approach is a big pain.

Its not too bad. While you are veiwing a chart you can pull up certain parts of the chart with a push of a button. Panning up and down isnt bad. It is very user friendly.

Wait until next year and install the Garmin G1000. It will be available mid year for the 300s and 350s.

Avidyne is known as the "a-word" at my place of business. Garmin is definately the better product as far as function and support. Operationally, the Avidyne can be better with larger screen. XM weather is better on the Garmin IMO, easier to turn on/off specific functions etc in it's own dedicated menu.

Try and get a "demo" out there in an operational aircraft. I can also tell you we've swapped out KMD850's and Avidyne's for GMX200's in our shop also.

Honestly, I don't really like viewing charts on the MFD's, I'd rather have paper. Now I have an iPad, and it solves a ton of issues in that regard. I don't mind the G1000 display, because it is huge and interfaces nicely, but you are right, it'll run around $450-$500k to install!

True, I have been hearing around 300-350K. Price out individually what you get and I think you will find its a pretty good deal. To RVSM your 300 and install an FMS w/waas would be 1/2 the cost already.

That is just for parts, wouldn't include labor. I know this because we have one on order to install in another airframe.
