Default Contract Pilot Rate Cessna 340?

I am going to be meeting with the owner of a Cessna 340 who is looking for a pilot. I do not know any details yet, but does anyone know what a fair hourly / daily rate would be? My experience level is CFII, Multi-Comm 1900TT 55ME. Also, how long is the typical transition time for a low time ME pilot moving up to a Cessna 340?

Pro pilot magazine publishes an annual salary survey that covers all sizes of aircraft and the last one I saw had a daily piston twin rate. I don't get the magazine anymore so I don't have the rates.

Transition should not be too difficult, but I would recommend some training at a simulator facility specializing in twin Cessnas. My transition to larger twins was at Ameriflight and we had about 2 weeks of ground, a week of simulator and a few flights in the aircraft before our 135 pic checkrides. I think you'll want similar training footprint to feel comfortable with the airplane.

Yeah don't hop in a pressurized piston twin without some sort of training with 55 multi. I seriously doubt his insurance would ever approve of that.

SimCom does twin Cessna training.

About 10 years ago, I needed training at SimCom and 250 multi PIC to be insurable in a 340 (and 421). I had about 1000TT at the time. It was a big step from trainer twins - especially if you don't want to turn the owner's engines into junk.

I made $300/day doing it. It was a blast, but it certainly demanded more of me than any turboprop and especially any jet (on a single pilot basis, that is).
