They must need a lot of pilots on the DC9 for the summer. I think they know one of the only ways they can staff the FO slots are via displacement, hence the nasty APAs lately.

Hopefully the 757 displacements will be going back soon, I was enjoying the Bus a lot. It'll be nice to reunite with the Diesel 9 again though. As much as I hate the sweating, I really enjoy flying that beast.

.....As I have said, barring a met down, we are close to required staffing for BP5 where new comes to our staffing rules.
Management already forecast an 8-12% drop in revenue from 2008 levels, so that leaves less cushion than the 20% number (which is correct) looks like on the surface.

As far as staffing, eliminating the freighter business will take up all of BP5/Section 12 staffing "shortages". The only real wild card is fleet utilization for the 757/767 domestic fleet and where those parked airplanes are coming from.

Still, I'd rather be at Delta than any other pax airline in the US. We may be somewhat isolated from the pain the rest of the industry will feel if the economy continues to muddle along and we don't enter a full fledged depression.

Hey guys, scheduling question. I have a regular line for March and I want to drop two trips (and hopefully pick up some other trips later). At one point, my schedule has me flying 10 days in a row. My "status" on ICrew shows my request as "current" and also says "Capped reserve days."

What does that mean?

Oh yeah, I forgot about the surplus of pilots coming east after Dec.

A substantial number of them may not follow the flying. Never been part of that community, but my understanding is that most of the Captains and some of the FOs are older and not likely to be all that excited about coming back to the mainland and flying people around for a living.

I'm back to the DC9 just in time for the summer heat. At least I'll have my hat to help keep me cool.

NWA sold 10 757's. If my math is correct, this will be the last APA with 757 displacements. There were 35 displaced FO's on the May APA, and 25 on the June APA for a total of 60.

I didn't think about that. It's definitely a possibility.

The days you want to drop do not have enough reserve pilots available to meet your drop request. (I think)

Look at the "Pilot Staffing Level"; if there aren't more "Available" pilots than there are "Required" on reserve, I'm pretty sure your request will be denied.

You can always try the "Swap Board" though. The sooner you put them up, the better. In any case, it's always best to try BOTH the swap board AND the leave board when trying to dump trips.

I think a lot of them are West Coasters who would try to get into SEA, SLC, or LAX, when the time comes.

Plus, if they have put the PCS swap multiplier at 1.5 that may cause an issue too.
