Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
#5041
I think that if a Delta North pilot was on sick leave at DCC, then they retained their old sick leave balance. If they come back to fly after DCC, then it is converted to DPMA benefits like the active pilots. If they stay on sick then they can burn through their sick leave balance until they go on disability. I am not sure if this is totally correct, maybe someone else knows the real answer.

This is part of what I am referring to. The LTS guys. I know that many do not plan on returning.
There are a few I have talked to that we planning on leaving after they payout as well. Not sure if it is worth it now, but I guess we will find out next month.

If that were true, we would be really short for the summer. I've been told that BP5 was put off until after summer because if it was implemented before summer, the Delta North side would have been critically short.

OK.. enlighten me. How is it that if lots of old guys retire, there would be little change in relative seniority? Since they usually occupy mostly top end spots on a seniority list, how is it that our relative standing on said list would change little; whereas growing the bottom of that samw list will affect your/my position? Oh, and BTW, I'll believe that the old guys "retire" early when I see it.

Well I'm very junior, so if the DC9/MD88 flying is replaced with outsourced 76 seat flying then there will be less need to hire, right? I'm not trying to fan the fire here, that's just how I understand it.
If our flying shrinks, then my relative seniority will not change as much as it would if the 100 seat flying is retained, correct?

Well sure.. that is correct. I'm not trying to fight either, I just wasn't sure where you were coming from. Supposedly though, the 76 seat flying is capped, and hopefully we will finally show enough backbone to not let it go any further. Oh wait.. I forgot where I am... yup.. we're boned.
OK.. you are assuming that the retirees are not going to be replaced. Actually, that is a short term view, but OK.. I'll buy that... initially. But when the C.R.A.P. (Congressional Relief Action Plan) starts to take hold and create (as Nancy Pelosi says) 500 million jobs, we will be once again expanding, and your relative seniority will surely get much much better.

This is where the supposed militancy of the NWA group will be a bit of fresh air. Maybe there will be a LOT more questions asked.. and the MEC will be forced to start -and I dispise this phrase- "taking it back". When the economy turns, it's time for a little somethin' somethin'... and not just total consciousness on our death beds.
