Thank you, all. I have always been a loyal, dedicated employee but family will always come first.

Just hired.
I start Indoc in a few weeks and looking for info on SLC vs. LAX.
I may commute and I'm guessing I can hold a line alot faster in SLC? Any guess on how long to hold a line in any aircraft at either SLC or LAX

Thanks

With AA, I initially tried to commute. Then I just moved to LA. Loved it there. SLC would be really cool too. Why ruin a good job by commuting?
I guess i could understand if you're in a mortgage you cannot sell and your wifes parents are your next door neighbors.
Best of luck in all though.

I have been applying at Delta for almost two years (since they started accepting) and I have 5500 hours tt 2000 jet Pic and three letters of recomendation from 2 pilots and a mechanic at Delta and haven't heard a word. I have been told that the Arinc job fairs are the key, but a friend at Delta said Delta is no longer attending those job fairs. What else can I do to get noticed by Delta?

Climb to 450 - double check your application, make sure it is perfection defined. Then, pick the internal who knows you best to walk your stuff in. He / She must know you and your history well enough to answer detailed questions about you. A sponsor is not required, but it sure does help one application stand out amongst 12,000 (or however many they have now).

Have your 2 pilot recommendation friends of yours to talk to Capt. John Mills. He's the person responsible for selecting candidates for interview, and turn them to the Manager of pilot hiring, and his office sends the invitation email to the candidates.

When your friends talks on your behalf, JM will browse thru your airlineapps on the spot, will let your friends know if you're competitive, or what are you lacking. If you're competitive, expect an email in the near future. Be sure your airlineapps is all correct, and error free as much as you can. If he finds anything that is abnormal, you'll receive an email saying what should be corrected, and as soon as you do that, they'll be notified and the process continues on.

Good luck.

The above posts are dead on. I will say this. Walking in does not guarantee an interview. Just eyes on the application. I know of one guy that was told he was uncompetitive yesterday even though he was the same as another guy that got the call. Who knows, but it is the only way that you can possible get the call sooner outside of dumb luck.

Absolutely not.
In fact, they want you to put your family before the commitment to Delta. Several times during my interview "family first vs. company first" came up and I always answered that if I have a family situation I'd call my CP, discuss it and turn a trip down and they loved it.
If your family is happy you'd give 150%, any employer knows that.

In training we were told many times by many leadership folks to let Delta know if we have any issues and need time off and/or other help. "If something else is on your mind - it'll be hard to concentrate on what we are asking of you"... etc.

Delta is the best place I've ever worked at.

LA is much more junior than SLC. I'm a new hire (Sep 07) and bid to LA instead of SLC because I will probably hold a line right away in the 737 at LAX. It is going the most junior right now if that is what you are looking for.
