Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
I might prefer the RJ. Hell I might prefer a Dash 8. To each his own.
A domestic only 777 category... man I am there! Of course depending on what number I'd be.
But as to the 1:1 ratio between 777s and CRJ900s, I think it should be more simple than that.
Buy whatever you freaking need. You want 360+ 50 seaters? 255+ 70-76 seaters, fine have at it.
We'll fly it all.
In the interim:
Plan A will be SWA or RAH scope.
Plan B is significant gains.
Plan C is a new union.

Am I willing to stretch this process out over 3 years over a minor pay deficiency in the TA? No.
Am I willing to strike over just one more 76 seater flown by DCI? ABSOLUTELY.
I am a "single issue voter" on scope.[/QUOTE]
me too!

OK, I'm going to play 'Devil's Advocate' here for just a moment, and throw out a scenario, see what you (all of you) think:
What IF...
RA comes to our Negotiating team and says something like this, "Ok, well, we had to buy Pinacle, and we need more 76 seat feed...bla, bla, bla..."
And our NT says, "OK, but they WILL BE FLOWN by DELTA PILOTS!!"
And RA says, "OK, fine, let's put all the Pinacle pilots on the Delta Seniority list, straight date of hire, and on the Delta Pilot Contract."
Or words to that effect.
Now What?
What should our NT say to that? Yes? No? Staple or...?
Discuss.

OK, and then it goes to Aribitration, and...then you're flying an RJ, as copilot, and they're flying MD80's or 717's.
Think it can't happen?
Why not ask all the former DL MD88 guys displaced to the NW DC 9's how that worked out for them?

This scope issue is easy to fix.
1. Fly any new 76 jets at Delta.
2. When the various 76 seat CPA's are up, you bring the jets owned by Delta back to Delta--with a flow for the affected pilots, if they want to come over.
Tie up the top end "wide body" scope and your done with section 1 negotiations.

Quick answer. Absolutely not. the doh merge is a nonstarter and adding such a large 50 seat and UCAL express contract is just a mess, also a nonstarter.
Solution. Move all 70-76 seaters to Compass certificate but not pilots, lift limit on 51+ seat jets, staple with open slots for off street hiring to be filled by hiring department as they see fit, no fences and pref interviews for other DCI pilots.
also sunset 50 seat flying contracts and end alaska codeshare.
Thoughts?
Remember that all previous arbitrations in recent times have not gone DOH... they have been category/status type integrations. The RAH/F9 deal was a bit different due to the bankruptcies and mess F9 and the then non-existant Midwest.
So, bring on arbitration- they fly smaller planes, make less, and are in bankruptcy. No judge would do anything other than staple them.

I'm wondering if National ALPA would buy a Staple, or if they would be looking at, yet another, DFR lawsuit?
