I stand by my theory that it is a total person concept the hiring folks look for. Internal recs, quals, GPA, extra curricular, etc. They all play into getting you the interview. Interview gets you the job. Good luck lads!
How long ago were you hired is the real question? I have a buddy that got hired with a 2.8 GPA but that was several years ago when they didn't have 10,000 applications. He even said himself that he doesn't think he would get called today if he were to apply. May how times have changed.

October last year. The guys I interviewed with were all very qualified from different backgrounds. Some were legacys, some had networked their butts off at conferences. Some had masters, some didn't. Some came from academy backgrounds, some from basic state schools. There was really no pattern aside from everyone being extremely driven to work for Delta. So who knows what the magic formula is.

Totally agree with this. I got hired in mid-May. The guys/gals in my interview group that got the nod (plus day before + after) spanned the full spectrum. Military fighter, military heavy, military with and without 121 experience, regional CA's, regional FO's, job fair's/no job fairs, high GPA's, middle of road GPA's...you get the picture. Absolutely no common thread that applied to all of the successful candidates I saw, other than motivated individuals that took maximum advantage of the fact that they got the chance to interview.

I'm confident that if your stats are good and your Airline Apps is complete, you'll eventually get the call. What happens after that is up to you. Cheers.

An SEC 2.7 is like a Big Ten 4.0 though.

Yea who really knows what the formula is. I think if you throw a masters degree or military in the mix then the GPA doesn't seem to have the weight it does with other guys. I have met the VP of flight ops and know the chief pilot and can't get an interview. Yet I know two guys that have identical resumes as me but the only difference is that they have 3.7 GPA or higher. So my point is that all things being equal if you have 6000 plus hours and 4000 TPIC time then the only thing that can separate 100's of guys with these credentials is their GPA.

FYP.

Srsly tho, I get the angst. Really. Just be patient and persistant. The hiring has just started. For OTS candidates, its just barely started.

For sure. Where you went school, what degree you got in school, how long it took you to get the degree and your GPA are heavily weighted items.

No angst, just waiting for my turn one of these days. Can't change the past and just hope it brings a bright future one day.

Yeah, because there are no hot girls in the b10 to distract you.

If you get an email from [email protected] asking you to update a few things on your application, is this some mass email because of an application change or are they actively looking at my app? Thanks!
