I've written dozens of letters of rec for former colleagues of mine with 0% success rate... not even an invite. These are pilots without skeletons such as DWIs, failed check rides or accident/incidents on their PRIAs. It seems the one common bond they share is being over qualified (+10k hours mostly TPIC). It seems Delta would rather hire a younger, up and coming first officer who is (allegedly) more trainable and has more years of service available to give to mother D.
