I went there for a commercial single add on. Simple task. I ended up getting no real training on what each maneuver was trying to accomplish. They did a great job just signing me off but beware and stay far away from an examiner named Terry Sunday. He is an absolutely rude guy that needs to end his examining career.

They will send you up for your checkride until you pass. If you are amazing at studying yourself, its ok to use them. If you want help from your instructor to tell you all the little things on how to do it, go somewhere else. I would recommend Anson Air in SGR.

I went to an American Flyers in Chicago, great way or me to **** away my money and got nothing out of it. If you aer on the north side of town go to DWH. If you are doing a multi add on go through ALLATPS but if you are doing your SEL IFR or CMEL go to United Flight United Flight Systems, Inc.- Welcomes all Pilots & AviationEnthusiasts To The Finest Flight Schools in Texas. I did my Commercial there and they have well maintained A/C as well as a large fleet and scheduling is so simple and it is all done online. If you have any other questions about them let me know. United Flight does not have DPE on staff per say but they have a groop of 3 that they use quite a bit. I have gone up with Dan Jones and Roscoe Edwards both are great pilots and good DPE's. Good luck to you.

You are far from telling the truth. Every aircraft there has been run to crap. The seats all have the fabric torn off and are really comfortable to sit on. Believe me... NOT.

Plus, to get an instructor there, you have to schedule a week in advance at a minimum. None of the managers will help you with finding someway to get on a schedule and the instructors are so worn down that they don't want to help you either except one or two.

PS. I was not trying to say american flyers has someone on staff doing their 61 rides. They don't. But even if you do go to United, stay away from Terry Sunday like I said. Rosco and Dan are good. Just Dan will be intimidating, until he asks you about what should he get for his wife's birthday halfway through the ride.

hey guys thanks for the input. diamondan, When u said they did no real training on the concept of the maneuvers, did they do a crappy job teaching them or just got them down good enough to pass the ride? You said to stay away from terry, do we have any input on who we take the checkride with or is more like just pray that you dont get him as an examiner. They told me with where im at now it would be abnout 10 hours of flight and 10 of ground about 3 or 4 days shuld have me done. I do rent from Anson air, and I was actually just gonna do it there to begin with but i figured everyone says american flyers is known for finish up programs and gettin it done quick i may as well do it there. I dont want it to be dragged out for weeks flyin 2 or 3 times a week taking everything slow i just need to hurry up and get it done with. They said it would run me about 3200 bucks at american flyers. not sure about anson air how much it would cost in the arrow or how many hours itll take etc

American flyers tries to low ball you to get your business and then things get extended because you need more trianing. As for DPE Rosco is great if you can get him scheduled, he has been know to yell a bit but for good reason and if you know your stuff cold the oral is fast. As for Dan's orals know the sectional very very well and you will have to apply some theory to his other questions but all in all calm tone voice but a hell of a poker face. I still stand behind United Flight and all I can say is go there and check it out for your self don't take what I or any one has to say, just go to the school ask questions and pick who you like. Just remember ALLATPS is in Houston now as well and they are a great school

Good luck

Thanks again guys for the help
