Most aviation writers are also CFIs so I am not sure exactly what you after. Tips on teaching? Anec dotes? Technical explanations? Lesson plans? How to get a job? There are lots of books out there on flight training and its many subtopics. Maybe you could be a little more specific. The best reference material on how to teach is the FOI. If you want something more specific, you need to specify whether you are doing primary training, instrument training, multiengine, etc. and what kinds of questions you have about it.

Im looking specifically for a book or two that has ideas and those lessons that were not put in the FAA books. I guess anything that CFI's have written about lessons they learned at the "school of hard knocks" so to speak as a new CFI. I guess something along the lines of (I learned about CFI'ing from that.)Tip books so to speak. You know the lessons New CFI's learned that wasnt in the Books....lol

This seems narrow minded, there is not one other book or source to explore better methods of teaching?

Multiple Intelligences

I highly recommend this source then, and some research on eastern versus western learning styles. It can open your eyes to some interesting new ideas on how a person learns.

Disclaimer: The FOI is great reread it twice since graduating last year and use it daily.

One great book written for new CFI's is called "The Savvy Flight Instructor: Secrets of the Successful CFI" by Gregory Brown.

Great book. Lots of interesting ideas on how to get started as a CFI and methods of getting and servicing customers.

Default Flight Instructing Books and Material

Like mention by an earlier post, "The Savvy Flight Instructor: Secrets of the Successful CFI" is invaluable. It is one of the best books I've ever read about flight instructing. Really gets you motivated to get out there are teach people to fly.

But here are a few of the books that I have used and found very useful:

Hope these help!

Regards,

Jeffrey

I recommend this book to all new or soon to be flight instructors, The Flight Instructors Manual

Bill Kershner has some great advice and ideas on how to actually teach (not just fly) the maneuvers. Plus, he has that kick ass Piper Cub jacket.
