I have to say the $3,340 private is amazing. My flight school rents a 152 for $89/hour wet, which I think is a very good price for our area. $89 X 40 = $3560, so you can't even rent our plane for the price of their whole package.

I wonder where they cut their expenses? Do their instructors get paid anything? Is gas incuded? Is the plane properly maintained?

Don't worry UpThere. The USAF doesn't have a flight academy.
They have a Service Academy which specializes in making professional military officers for the USAF. If you should end up going to pilot training (still not an academy), in the recent past there has been a chance that you may end up "flying" predators as you say.

I second Central Texas College. Like SiShane said, you can get your bachelor's from Texas A&M central texas and all your flight ratings for around 20K including multi.

Do it local or at a low priced flight school, the regionals could care less where you did you training.
