Default Academy vs FBO Instructors

I was wondering who will get the most quality and Quantity when it comes down to instructing. Will an instructor at a flight academy (e.g. ATP, ari ben) obtain more flight time then an instructor at a flight school (e.g. cessna center, moms & pops)? And who will probably have a better chance at getting hired?

Short answer..it doesn't matter. There are many reasons why but in the end airlines hire qualified applicants and you can achieve that either way. There are advantages and disadvantages with each route but both lead to the same destinations with a little foresight and planning.

Small FBO flight schools are having a very hard time right now. There isn't any money out there for financing and the cost of flight training is outside of most peoples budgets. The academies are making it because either they're married up with a university (so they can get school loads and gov $$) or have a good amount of foreign students.

So my .02 cents would be to try an academy, only for the reason that you'd build time quicker in my opinion. (That's only my opinion, take it for what it's worth).

Definitely more flight time at an academy in the current situation for the reasons quinny mentioned.

Some flight schools aren't doing horrible though. We share a building with a Cessna center that stays quite busy without any contract work. I would imagine most schools outside of major cities will have it even harder.
