Talking 8710 forms and electronic logbook

Does anyone have any good "free" electronic logbook software or homemade Excel things that do the same thing? I am filling out the dreaded 8710 form for my Comm EOC, and believe if I had all the required info all ready added up from entering each flight into the computer, life would be much better.

Thanks

Definately go electronic, but also keep paper books (until you land your ultimate pilot job). The electronic books do many things:

1) Ensure your totals add up right
2) Easy correction of errors (turbojets are NOT complex airplanes oops)
3) Search & Sort features.
4) Easy to fill out 8710s and job apps
5) Palm compatible...record your times in the cockpit after each leg (you have to do this in 121 anyway) then upload to your software later.

You would have to be a master excel programmer to get the same functionality as a $35 professional software.

Are most companies ok with you submitting an electronic logbook?? Just wondering because it is alot neater than my hardcopy logbook.

Most airlines actually prefer hardcopy, since it's a lot harder to forge, and it gives them some insight into you. A little messiness is only human. Some (AA & Eagle and others I belive) REQUIRE hardcopy, so I keep both, at least until I land the dream job.

Also, you can plan on bringing at least your first logbook to any interview since that has all your training endorsements. They WILL need to see those.

I have EXACTLY what you are after... Go to my website and download the logbook.. Insert your stuff and take a peek at PAGE 2 of the excel doc. It generates an 8710 looking form. Just be smart about logging your times and bingo. Hard work is done.
