Default Confused re: BFR

Good Morning All.

I have a FAA PPL, issued June '06. I have omitted to take a BFR within this time. In order to revaildate the licence, is a BFR all I need, even though I'm outside the 2 years??

To complicate things a little, I am now training for JAA ratings and completed the JAA Commercial 6 weeks ago on the basis the FAA PPL is ICAO, but have not yet applied for the issue of that particular licence. This was passed in the US & was subject to US airspace regs. It also involved a check-out on a new type of N-reg a/c by a jointly licensed FAA/JAA instructor too. Could this fulfil the requirement of the BFR as stated in Part 61?

I have myself confused over this point & would appreciate any assistance.

Thank you.
P.

Your Private Pilot Certificate never expires; unlike a CFI rating. In order to ACT AS PILOT IN COMMAND, you must have had a BFR within the past 2 years. There is nothing more needed other than a BFR, if you haven't flown for 2 years or 5 years. How well you do on the BFR will dictate wether you are signed off for it. If it's been a while, you may need more than 1 hour of ground and 1 hour of flight.

Before you take a checkride, you will need to be PIC current (i.e. pass a BFR) or you could have the examiner agree to be the PIC. Many won't, though.
