Default Cfi Checkride Passed

I am now a flight instructor. Got my first intro flight comming up. I hope he turns into a student. Any ideas on how to force the flying bug into biting him.

Congrats, that is a great feeling and one of the more valuable ratings you will hold.

You can't force the flying bug into anyone, just be friendly, let them ask questions, and make the flight as all around as enjoyable as you can. Explain things to them, try to remember what it was like when you first flew a small aircraft and use that to relate. I've found if you can get them to laugh and smile, things tend to go much better. They will already be nervous enough.

On my first intro flight as a prospective student, the instructor did more than the usual "here, why don't you take the controls for a minute" and maybe do a couple of shallow turns. In about 10 minutes, he taught me how to trim the aircraft to a particular airspeed and conduct a constant airspeed climb. It was a huge eye-opener and showed me that yes, I had the ability to learn to fly an airplane and I could actually see myself developing the skills to get the license.

Don't just show them the wonders of flight. Show them that learning to become a pilot is within their reach.

Congrats on earning your CFI! I have found that having the "bug" myself helped other people catch it. Be enthusiastic. Let them tag along as your preflight and show them little details like how the flight controls work. I always like showing them something fun like a neat local landmark (bridge, lake, their house, etc) that they might know in the area but have never seen from the air.
