1. Usually flight instruction, as long as you get some IMC. But any flying job will work, although some things like diver-driver and pipeline patrol may leave you weak on IFR. A ME job would be ideal...nothing give you a competetive advantage at 1500 hours like several hundred hours ME.
2. Most airlines don't usually require types, or even care. In the corporate world, it often is helpful to have a type, and king air and citation types are probably the most versatile.
3. Depends on the country and the job. In some places employers import gringos, provide their training, and pay for license conversion. Other places you need a type rating and PIC time in type.
