Default 121 ATP Written??

I am going to be getting ready to take the ATP written, I remember long ago that we don;t need to focus on all the chapters in the Gleim. Can someone tell me what chapters to focus on in the Gleim for the ATP written exam? thanks for the info

I studied everything in the gleim, but didn't focus much on the performance data. The "what EPR value do you need to set in the 727 to achieve 56% thrust" type of stuff, i say i didn't study it (as in memorize it) i did look over it with the hope some would stick, but the questions are very similar, and the best way to really be "ready" for that section, would be to actually know how to perform the problem, as opposed to just memorizing it. Memorized the rest though.

It depends on which ATP written you take; Part 121 or 135. It makes no difference on your actual certificate once you get it. After you take the practical, you're issued a generic ATP certificate. It's all spelled out in detail in the intro section of the Gleim ATP book (p. 5 of the 2008 edition).

if you're taking the 121 test: study all sections except units 4 and 10
if you're taking the 135 test: study all sections except units 3 and 11-13.

If you go through the Gleim book, AND THEIR TEST PREP CD (can take as many practice tests as you want to), the written is a piece of cake. The only questions I actually memorized were the CG questions and the flight plan questions, simply because I didn't want to take the time to do them while taking the test.

Take the 135 test. It is a hundred times easier than the 121. You only have to learn the Be1900 stuff instead of the 727, 737, etc. When I took it, I just went over all the questions on the gleim cd until I got them all right. I just guessed on every question that involved calculation, and still got a 90 in 15 minutes. The test administrator could not believe it. Btw, it does not matter whether you take the 135 or 121 version, they have equal weight when all is said and done.

Question

I just started studying for the 135 ATP two days ago. I really didn't know which one to study for. I currently fly 135, so I opted for the 135 test, but when this wonderful "aviation depression" is over I'm going to apply to some of the airlines. Is it going to make a difference which one I end up taking?

I recommend the SheppardAir test prep - great course of instruction and guaranteed results.
