Default Air Canada Jumpseat

Thinking about using AC out of SYD to YVR next month... I've never jumpseated with them before. I did a search, and looked on the ALPA jumpseat guide - So I know I need to list and get my record locator number and they will probably give to a gate pass to get to the airplane.

But things always run different in SYD so I was currious if anyones ever done this on Air Canada before or if anyone's ever used AC not too or from the US. Also has anyone gotten luckly with first? I always bring goodies for the crew on these long flights just be be extra nice anyway, but if there is a secret I would love to know it.

Thanks!

I have jumpseated on them and it was one of the best experiences ever. They ask that you call reservations and list as a standby, then the captain will have a form at the gate after you introduce yourself. If they can fit you in first class they will, I was on an overbooked flight and somehow the Captain made sure I got on, and one of their own who was also jumpseating said he would ride the js if necessary to make sure I got on.

We could all use a lesson from the Air Canada guys on what treating each other with respect is all about, they were truly first class, A.

No secret they are all good pilots and will treat you well, A !

Just for clarification... I believe you guys are talking about Canadian pilots jumpseating on Air Canada, correct? I don't think the US pilots are allowed to and I know A/C pilots are not allowed on our Jumpseats (Legacy US carrier)

No 'actual' riding jumpseat but riding in the back as a jumpseater is fine. Done it many times and have always enjoyed flying on them.
