Default Any Indian pilots here or pilots fly for Indian carrier?

Just wondering if there's any Air India, or Jet Airways pilots or cabin crew here? I'm a US citizen, but I'm originally from India, and it's been a dream to fly for a Indian carrier. Thanks.

Mayfly may chime in here, but I'll tell you what is happening as far as I know. Eagle Air here in NZ (Air NZ Link) has lost a number of pilots around the 1000 hour mark to AI through a local contract company. It is a commuting contract (you could do it from LAX or JFK), $6500 US per month and 6 on, two off. PM either myself for more info, or Mayfly135 perhaps but he is pretty busy with licencing and what not in Mumbai at the moment.

I knew a Ex-Capt of Olympic Airlines who went over there to fly the A340 for Jet Airways, I will try and contact him.

I know a guy who works for Kingfisher/Air Deccan. Not the place to shoot for in India by a long shot, but it sounds like you could do worse, and they're hiring a healthy number of expats and locals as well as preparing to go international. Of course, that's provided Vijay and crew can get their finances in order.

Apparently, Air Deccan is dhakkan. Somebody who is more up on their Hindi than I am might be able to explain why that's funny.

India is ripe with low time jet pilots. Around the AI training center I have spoken with several Indians in training for the A310 & B738 (AI Express) with just a CPL. Most have all just returned from training centers around the world where they have acquired the minimum 200 hrs / multi engine / instrument ratings. The expats tend to have a bit more experience (>2500TT), but as Koru said AI has contracted some Aus/NZ CPL holders with only turboprop time (BE1900/Metro) into 777 FO positions. The catch is one must fund their own endorsement on the 777! If you would like more info on the process I can put you in touch with someone presently in training...

I'm here with Deccan/kingfisher and about to bail out. Flying is Ok but the the management is poor and working conditions are from a third world concepts. They do not know the meaning of a contract.

Windjet, what's the problem with the contract? As far as you know which would be better, Deccan/KingFisher or Jet Airways? Is Deccan/Kingfisher a mess because of the merger? How will that impact hiring? Is Chochin one of their domiciles? What are the other domiciles?
