Cool Copa Airlines (old question i know)

So this is a question for some of the pilots here that have had some experience with COPA. I am a pilot building time like every cherry looking for the best place to go fly for. The US well it seems to be pretty hard to get a job at a regional now with all the furlough presents we get in our stockings every x-mas (I was furloughed by by SkyWest in apr 08 as a CS super). I have a real interest to fly for COPA considering the crazy destinations in central and south America. As well as being able to fly 737NGs which makes it to me prime choice.

I've read some of the posts on some of the negative things, I'd like to know about the good things. I'm Hispanic so Spanish is not a problem, my girlfriend is Panamanian which is convenient and well I've been to panama several times and I enjoy it alot. I don't know whats cooler than the approach into 3R at MPTO and getting to see the skyline and ocean all in one.

Hows the hiring pool at COPA? I've got an HR contact for Copa from my g/f but don't know the best way to approach the application process considering that nuestrobub.com doesn't show a thing for pilots. The requirements I was told was minimum 250hr Comm MEL/SEL, Instrument, does this still apply? My girlfriend's family is sponsoring me for residency papers will that help the application process? Is everyone trained for the 737NG and ERJ190 or is to need basis? How long is IOE? reserve time if any? Flying into cuba sounds fun, is that a problem for foreign pilots(I am a mexican citizen)? I have airline experience just not as a pilot, but I am not sure how that beefs up my resume for a foreign carrier. What do they normally look for? Where do you do your sim training? Is the 737NG type rating FAA compatible? Rumor has is it that there is no jump seat privileges is it true, is CM part of CASS today?

I hear the pay is not oolala great, but then again the cost of living in panama is a little different. I guess to me most of all its for the experience and chance to fly a 737 in some of the wildest approaches (MHTG). I'd appreciate any insight or things that maybe I have missed.

Thank you!

-Brian
