I haven't heard or seen indications of anything like that Yeager, my guess is that it was left over there on their web site from when we got a raise at AJX about a year ago. Our salary was brought almost to the same level as the AJV captains ($500 less a month I think) and the F/O's are now making the same salary at both companies.

As for the Insurance with PARC, it is correct that it is substandard in the US compared to CREW. A couple of months ago I got an e-mail from PARC saying that they are getting quotes to improve the insurance in the US because we have been pushing hard to get that fixed but I don't think that they will do anything until they see how the whole healthcare reform movement in the US turns out.

Dominican,

Thanks for the info. I bet it still better than the insurance coverage we have now.
I'm writing now the autobiography on the application form. Hopefully it will draw attention, the good kind I mean.
Friday is my last flight before getting laid off.

Thanks for all your help and info.
Thanks to you too, myoface!

Y.

Good luck....make the bio standout....they want guys who are more than just pilots. (at least that is my impression) sorry to hear about the layoff, it is a lousy time right now. I feel incredibly fortunate to have landed this job. i could not have done it with out help from the guys on this board....i hope to pass along some of that advice.

good luck

thanks for the responses 'face' and co. i've heard that they are slowing down hiring, or that at least Crew has slashed slots in half for august/sept. this from a friend who has a friend at hawaii aviation/crew. he also had some interesting things to say about how the hiring process goes. he said that there is a cumulative scoring system, whereby your sim eval (from your interview) is scored, and factored in with your training scores (after you've been hired), probably along with some other things (like interview questions and in-training written tests, I assume). by the end of the training period (or any time during) you can be let go if this cumulative score is substandard.

does this sound true to any of you who have gone through the training already? does this perhaps explain how some pilots have been hired and then let go before seeing the line?

not that this matters to me. i would welcome any chance i could get. but it is interesting, isnt it?

Purple,

Have not heard anything like that. My understanding is they want to hire 4 guys (or gals) for pax and cargo every 2 months. That is 8 slots every 2 months...most of which are FOs. The Cargo side hires some Capts, but I think it is pretty competitive.

Regarding training, I dont know about a score for the whole thing. i understand that the interview is scored, but I think it stops there and is used for selection. It is a different way of doing things here though, so I suppose anything is possible. so far they have treated us great and been very fair and helpful!

Good luck

One thing you can do is go back and review what you submitted on your bio! that is an opportunity to stand out in my view. Besides that just hope for the best

Purple,

I agree with Dominican....make sure the bio stands out. One thing I would recommend if you have not done so already is go back and read this entire thread. It is long, but there is a lot of really good info, mostly given out by Dom, Birdcage and Lostinasia. It will help you prepare for the interview in terms of knowing what you are getting yourself into. they want someone that can deal with the commute, the time away, japanese culture, etc. If you know someone at AJX or AJV get in touch with them. I know that at least at crew, they are inviting recommendations. Might help to get your app to the top of the stack.

good luck

yeah, i had read the first 10 pages of the thread and just started skimming after that, but i'm gonna pick it up where i left off and soak it all in.

i already sent the bio in to parc; so they have what i wrote (for better or worse at this point). on crew, i can make changes still but i don't know how that would look - that is, if they have even read my application. and i couldn't blame them if they hadn't, considering the number of app's they probably have on file. either way, i think it was a good bio.

my friend of a friend at crew, is unfortunately, just that. and our mutual friend didn't really open the door; which i can understand also because we've never met or spoken (me and the crew guy).

anyway, for now, i'll read this thread, cross my fingers, and go buy a japanese rosetta stone. jk the last . . . for now.
