Emirates time requirements

So, what are the mins now? A FO @ a cargo company or NB operator with only RJ PIC isn't qualified to fly for Emirates anymore, even though they may be flying an A-320 or 74 now in the right seat?

No, I didn't search too hard for the answer, so, if there's a thread I can be sent to, I can do that.

The time requirements are 4000TT of which 2000 must be in a multi crew jet aircraft that weighs more than 55 tonnes(120000 lbs) MTOW. Its on their website or used to be. www.emirates.com

The large jet requirement doesn't necessarily have to be PIC.

No weight requirement for the jet. They have hired RJ and corporate pilots in the past. With many airline pilots on furlough or otherwise out of work the competition is tougher. Boeing glass or Airbus time is pretty much essential until those guys all get jobs.

Requirements for Position of First Officer - A330/A340 and B777

A minimum of 4,000 hours total flying time
A minimum of 2,000 hours multi-crew, multi-engined jet aircraft experience
ICAO ATPL
English language fluency (written and verbal comprehension)
Experience commensurate with age
Type rated would be advantageous

Good question. To be honest, the answer should be no. Both fleets are now running upgrades at over 3 years. That means there is zero need for DECs. That doesn't say much though because the only time they actually needed DECs was for the surprise arrival of the A340-300s.

Nothing against DECs personally, but the hiring of them now will only serve to further push back the upgrades of highly qualifed first officers who have served more than 3 years.

What they really should do is hire Second Officers at much lower minimum time levels. That would be a much more financially intelligent way to run the airline.
