Default Air NZ tragedy...

"French aviation officials were investigating whether the paintwork affected external instruments providing data to the A320 aircraft's systems."

Very sad indeed. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family, friends, and co-workers of those onboard. Interesting about the paint theory...perhaps they may have painted over static ports which may have caused false information to some of the onboard instruments. Sounds similar to a fatal crash years ago of I believe a 757 in the Carribean Sea that crashed because there was tape covering static ports that had been left there from an airplane wash I think. Pilots were thinking they were overspeeding when in reality the airplane was approaching stall. I would have to go back and research that again, but I think that was how the story went. eerily similar...interesting to see what the investigation finds.

RIP to the crew

Were they not doing circuits for 90 minutes before the crash? That's the info they gave. Pretty strange to fly around the patch for an hour and a half with no problems.

Sounds similar to past Airbus incidents with FCC problems.
