Korupilot should be able to help you out with that one mate. Probably out on a trip at the moment.

It never fails to amaze me just how much confidence people have in the wisdom of the faceless ppruners.

Major Kong, if you want the full poop PM me. I've been here for a short while and can shed some good light on what you have likely read on pprune. Beyond that I won't get into it here.

There is a full story as to what's on pprune which you'll want to be aware of. Basically, thing's have changed fast and for the better.

As for me, so far so good. I will mention that there is apparently no desire to hire none type rated guy's, and we may or may not get a number of drivers from SIA cargo due to their desire to get guy's to go on LOA. IJ and SQ are of course pretty tight so this could put a hold on outside hiring for a while anyway.

Anyway MK, PM me.

<Sigh> As opposed to the faceless Airline Pilot Central - ers?

I personally don't know a darned thing about Great Wall (or flying in China). The guy wanted information. Pprune has a lot more than here (on this topic), and - like here - you have to filter everything. Yup, there are a lot of whining children. There are also a couple of great (and recent) threads on flying in China over there.

Now ask me about India ...

Great - sincerely glad to here it. Then post it, both here and on Pprune. That's the idea of a forum. Also, people tend to post negative stories. Positive stories based on good information are always welcome!

Yes, the guy wanted information, which is why I said PM me.

I find, generally, the guy's who really are interested in information get in touch with personally anyway. Otherwise, much of the time my comments end up with snide replies for no particular reason. So, I don't really bother much anymore with the open forum 'advice'. Good for you if you do, but I'm a bit passed it. It's my personal choice of how I do it, so please respect that.

As far as getting a job here, I showed up at the office in Shanghai with my application in hand, hair combed and wearing a nice jacket. I find it generally works pretty well. If you have close to what they want for experience then they'll likely take a good hard look at you. If you just fill in the online app then you are in a pool with a whole bunch of other guy's who may look very good, but who someone at your airline of choice has to pick out of the herd. Do something to stand out and you'll do just fine.

Certainly, but then the only thing other people will read are these negative posts you refer to. Ignore "snide comments" from babies. Who cares what they say? Get the truth out (as you see it). That's what a forum is for.

Anyway, to get back on topic ...

Great practice, but not really practical for some guy based in Wichita (although if you really really want the job ...). I guess you'd have to get a tourist visa to do that, at least for us Americans.

Here's a pretty good thread, and the OP prefers PM's for sensitive information.

Good luck to all!

Korupilot - As far as GW goes, is there any hiring going on at the moment, or will there be in the near future? Do they hire Captains, or upgrade First Officers? Are the schedules commutable? Better there than Jade or YRE?

Thanks!

2)DEC, f/o(if it ain't in writing, it ain't happenin')
3) From where, again see #2 in paren.
4)Don't honestly know.

Koru,
Don't expect a rush from SQ Cargo unless retrenchment(furlough) starts. OR unless T&C improve.
