Default Jet* Nz

So Jet* had a meeting last week to speak with pilots who were interested in going over to the new NZ airline. Very cryptic from the management side, who didn't (still) want to tell anybody about the T&C. A management pilot did have the agreed terms though, so they were forced to divulge them.

It started with a sugar coated $170 if you fly 85 hours per year. Now, my wife flies the B737 domestically already, and to get 65 hours you are working very hard, including many 10+ hour day's as the legs are just so short. Knowing this, the question was asked as to what the base was. Sitting down are we: $100K Kiwi and 65 hours. For those in the back, that's just a bit more than $50K US per year. . . for a skipper. Apparently a few people gave the guy a piece of their mind, something about being sick of Australian companies coming into NZ and using it as a third world pay (to fair fair, third world airlines pay way better) dumping ground. And considering they want 250 pilots out of Auckland, they will likely try to do much of the international stuff out of here.

I agree with the comment of the not too happy pilot, but as long as pilots keep taking the jobs, we don't have much to complain about do we. Oh yea, their speak about having enough pilots to some of the guys applying is interesting, as they, apparently, do not have many takers.

Much like V Oz, with their $45K per year, all in, B777 (relief)FO's, they are likely bottom feeding the 1000 hour total time TP market for guy's who will pay for their own rating and then get paid squat. Man, PacBlue pays better.

Wow...thanks for the update. Fear not, this is one pilot that wont be looking in to Jet* NZ.

Say Hey to P. Didn't realize she went to the 37

Cheers,
