Not for us expats no mo'...Malaysia recently passed extremely restrictive rules forbidding any foreign work visas for more than a year, effectively bringing Air Asia's recruitment of low-time overseas pilots to a stop...

Basically you have to be Malaysian now...would've been a good gig on an A320 if they hadn't pulled the plug!, but I can't blame them...it's their country!!!

Ya the USA should do the samething... we let almost anyone come here and build time and go back home and get a better job... while US citizens get screwed.

aside from that.....Air Asia is a dump, at a previous airline, Air Asia was on the the no DHD list..

PCL - what airline in the US hires non-residents? Because that's what we're talking about here, where Air Asia, JAL, etc. used to hire non-residents in the past, in other words pilots who were not legal residents of those countries. That does not happen here.

As far as I know all non-citizen pilots in the US must be legal residents and the TSA has a specific website set up where they verify their legal status. Everyone is fingerprinted, photographed and a detailed background check is conducted to verify the person’s status.

Frankly, if other government agencies accepted the rules TSA uses for foreign born pilots we wouldn't have any illegal aliens in this country. They would never be able to find a job here.

And think of all the military pilots from eastern europe and russia, thats who us seekers of jobs there compete with. Think if they came to US, with all that exp, there would be no chance in hell of a job here in US
