No, that'll get removed in sim training.

Tony,
I'm a friend of "myoface" and he said to give you a shout. I was a DLCA at OO with 4500 hrs on type, including flying the 900 out of ATL my last few months there. Is there any chance of moving into the left seat, after getting some experience in country? I also have the 737(pic) type (sic time only), do you know how they pay? How is the aircraft maintenance? Thanks.

So, are you employed by Arik or Sigmar as a contracter? And $5500 seems a little low for that part of the world. Are they looking for CA's?

Hi!

I was US based, and am now in Nairobi. There were 5 guys from outside Africa here before me, and I was the only one that stayed. I have been here for 3 months, and have two to go. I will stay if I get a decent job and can't find a US one.

It is a LOT different, both flying and living, so be prepared for big changes. Also, NBO is a LOT better than Lagos, but at Arik, you only have to last 2 months at a time (I'm 6 months on/1 off).

$5500/month is VERY high for an African FO. There was a company in S. Africa that flew into "hotspots" and they were only paying $2500/month (for DC-9s AND MD-80s).

You have to be VERY flexible to make Africa work, especially coming from the US. I met a US corporate pilot (via the internet) who was visiting here here, and he told me there were few US pilots who could make it work.

Good luck!

If U want more info, PM me, or freind me on facebook to see photos/commentary of what the flying is like (username: ATPcliff).

Tuonane Baadaye!

RCAC

No, not through their web site. I gave the contact info in the beginning of the thread.

I'm an Arik employee, and was recruited by Sigmar.

Yes, CA's on the B737. Pay is $8000. If you can make more money as a new hire FO elsewhere, I'd recommend going there instead.

I think I just talked to you on the phone. I'll be forwarding your info along to the fleet manager.

Another jarhead, eh? I was 1983-1987, MCRD San Diego, NAS Memphis, MCAS Cherry Point, NAS Oceano, MCAS El Toro, California.

Things do open up. I've been here almost 6 months, and there are people below me on the seniority list.

The most jobs are on the B737. They are hiring 15 CA's and 15 FO's now. Must be typed.

Tony

No, Arik doesn't do that for expats.
